Matt is in the middle of his government furlough. He has one day off a week from now until at least the end of September. Which is nice, but we've also gotten his first paycheck with one less day of pay. That was not so nice. And we heard the announcement this week that these cuts may continue on into the next fiscal year. Although Matt loves having the days off, it is a little hard on him cramming 5 days of work into 4 now. He doesn't love his job a whole lot anyway, so this hasn't been the easiest on him as far as how he feels about his work.
Anyway...we used our second furlough day to go visit Grandma Wires. It's been almost 8 years since we've been up there by ourselves to spend a normal weekend with her. It was past time to pay a visit...and it was well worth it!
Storms welcomed us to Michigan. There were lots of trees down and parts of the city were without power until Sunday. Thankfully that wasn't us!
The kids brought their scooters and we took lots of walks down by the river.
Grandma still loves playing the organ! Maddie and Kinslee played for her, and she played for us!
The kids aren't too old for the playground. They were asking constantly if we could go play, and didn't want to leave when it was time!
Maddie's favorite tree is a willow tree. There were lots of them in the park that were good climbing trees.
We played lots of games with Grandma. Grandma is still a force to be reckoned with when it comes to playing games!
We were so thankful to get to spend the weekend with Grandma. And in a few weeks we get to see Grandma Ferguson. I'm so thankful Maddie, Braden and Kinslee will grow up to have memories with their great-grandmas!
