Tuesday was our full sight-seeing day. We left at 9am and didn't get back from dinner until 7pm. Lights were out by 8pm and we slept hard!
In the morning we started our way around to all the monuments and memorials. The kids' favorites were the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial.
After walking our way around the Tidal Basin, we headed down The Mall to the American History Museum. Favorites in this museum were Dorothy's shoes and the Star Spangled Banner.
Although we were tired, we decided to try to see the inside of the Capitol since we missed the tours on Monday. This was worth the wait! The House of Representatives was in session that day and they were all letting out while we were going in. Men in suits everywhere...if we knew what our representative looked like we could have introduced ourselves:)
The kids were very impressed with the Rotunda. I think it was an unexpected surprise for them.
