Sick Weekend

Our plans to be at Mom and Dad's for the River of Hope KidsFest were changed this weekend when several of us came down with the flu.  Braden started things off midweek with a head cold.  Kinslee ended up sick Thursday afternoon with a fever and she has been the one feeling the worst most of the weekend. Maddie got stuck with just a stuffy nose, and I was pretty miserable on Saturday, but was doing much better by later Sunday afternoon.

Kinslee went from chills and a fever without meds...
to relatively happy and playing while the meds were in her.
And this was the cycle throughout the weekend. I'm praying that today brings no fever so we don't have to make a doctor visit.

Since we would be missing cousin time and the much-loved KidsFest, I told Braden and Maddie to think of a few things we could do around the house that they would consider "fun".

Braden immediately requested hot dogs and carnival games.  I told him that was a great idea...if he got it all ready and cleaned it all up!

After Saturday morning pancakes, he and Kinslee set off to create 4 different carnival games such as knock down the peanut butter jars, guess the number of beads in a jar, darts, and a beanbag game.  It was  quite creative with an announcers box (complete with microphone) and candy for winners.

Matt taking a turn as announcer...
Although we were sick and plans to travel changed, it was a good weekend relaxing at home and making some memories together.

  1. Glad everyone is feeling better today! Looks like you had a fun carnival at home since you had some "down time." :)
